 The son of Michael Laycock a Primitive Methodist Minister and his wife Mary, Harry Brooksbank Laycock was articled to an architect and may have established an office in Bury before entering a brief partnership with Harold France about 1910. In 1905 he was awarded first prize for a Design for Headstone in The Studio Prize Competitions and in 1907 received a National Silver Medal at South Kensington for a Design for a Detached Belfry Tower. In the 1900s Harry Laycock also developed a reputation as a minor artist mostly producing rural landscapes of a “chocolate box” character. In 1909-1910 he produced a number of etchings including portraits of Manchester architects Paul Ogden and Hubert Somerset. In 1911 he exhibited at the Royal Academy No 1612 : Congregational Church and Schools, Manchester. H France and H B Laycock.

Harry Brooksbank Laycock died on 30 August 1916 at Petersfield Hampshire.
