Born in 1871, the son of James Medland and Priscilla Taylor. Nephew of Henry Taylor FSA, grandson of Canon Isaac Taylor and great-grandson of Isaac Taylor LLD. Educated at Gigglewick before embarking on architectural studies. He was articled to his father before one year in London as assistant to T G Jackson. He commenced practice in Manchester with his father although no evidence of a formal partnership has been found and continued after his death. FRIBA in 1906 and President of the MSA 1918-20. Entered into partnership with W. Cecil Young FRIBA. Following World War I, Taylor was the chairman of the Architects Panel which carried out the Prestwich Housing Scheme. In 1903 he married Edith, the eldest daughter of John Hammond and Charlotte Henrietta Wollaston of Wells, Somerset. They had two sons, Isaac Taylor of Fallowfield and the Rev Dr John Denys Taylor a medical missionary in Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). Died 28 July 1948 at his home in Rusholme, aged 77. Honorary architect - St James’ s Birch-in Rusholme.
