James Henry Lang

James Henry Lang, the son of James Lang, engineer, and his wife Mary was born in Hackney, London, in 1880 to where the family had moved from Patricroft, Eccles, about 1878. By 1891 the family had returned to Manchester. Between 1897 and 1903 James Henry Lang he was articled to Joseph Nodal whilst attending Manchester Municipal Schools of Art and Technology and remained with him as his assistant. From 1904 he worked as an assistant to Henry Lindley of Ashton-under-Lyne and Albert Edward Dixon before commencing independent practice in Manchester in 1907. He was elected LRIBA in 1911, proposed by P S Worthington and the Manchester Society of Architects.
