Oswald Adshead

The second son of John Adshead, shoe-maker and Tirzah Adshead (1826-1879), Oswald Adshead was born at Manchester in 1856. He was employed in the office of William Bell Diocesan Surveyor of Manchester and the office of Lofthouse & Pollard of Manchester (RIBA) and travelled in Italy and Spain. He commenced independent practice in 1879 with offices at 63 King Street. Proposed by T Worthington J Stevens and A Darbyshire he was elected an Associate of the RIBA on 9 January 1882. At the time of his death he was carrying on business as Architect and Surveyor at 57, Brown Street, Manchester

Oswald Adshead died on 16 June 1886 at his residence 19 Hale Road, Bowdon, and was buried in the family plot at St Luke’s Cheetham on 19 June.
