NOT REGISTERED AS ARCHITECT – For carrying on business as an architect and surveyor while not registered to do so under the Architects’ Registration Act, 1936, Percy Gordon Kelvey was fined £10 and ordered to pay costs of five guineas at the Manchesteer City Magistrates Court yesterday. He pleaded guilty. Prosecuting for the Architects Registration Council of Great Britain, Mr J Eva said Kelvey had erected a plate outside his premises bearing the words “Percy G Kelvey, architect and surveyor” and his name appeared in Kelly’s Business Directory as an architect, although he was not qualified.  For Kelvey it was said that he had served three years as an indentured apprentice and altogether he had 45 years practical architectural experience. He had the impression that because of his considerable e experience the terms of the Act did not apply in his case, although he had asked to be registered. ROUND-THE-WORLD TRIP 20-FT BOAT - ARCHITECT TO START MAY. An attempt to sail round the world in an adapted ship's lifeboat is to be made by Mr. Percy Kelvey, a Manchester architect, who plans to start from Liverpool in May, and sail via the West Indies.  The boat, which is 20 feet long, with a beam of 8 feet and a depth of 3 feet 6 inches is fitted with two of Kelvey's own inventions— self-steering apparatus and a contrivance which he claims will obviate the danger of capsizing.
