                    Percy Harwood Topham was born in 1878 at Monton, Eccles, the son of George Topham, a book-keeper in a continental shipping house, and his wife, Fanny and trained as an architect. In 1911 he joined Charles Thomas Adshead in partnership in Manchester, Percy B Adshead, brother of Charles, joined the partnership in 1919.
