A prolific Roman Catholic church architect of inter and post-war years, based in Preston but also with offices in Southampton Street, London. Wilfrid Clarence Mangan was the son of Richard Mangan, a leather merchant born in Ireland and his wife Alice and was educated at Catholic College Preston. He was in partnership with his brother, James Henry Mangan, from about 1920, this partnership being dissolved on 17 February 1926.
