William Pollard

William Pollard was born at Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, in 1853, the son of John and Susanna Pollard. He was articled to Robert Boyle of Manchester 1868 to 1874 following which he commenced independent practice in Manchester and continued in practice until 1891. He was briefly in partnership with William Arthur Lofthouse 1874-1875, and later in partnership with John Showell. In 1891 Pollard gave up independent practice in Manchester and moved to Sheffield where he became assistant to John Brightmore Mitchell-Withers (1838-1894) and his son, also John Brightmore Mitchell-Withers (1865-1920). On 30 January 1911 he was elected LRIBA proposed by J B Mitchell Withers, W J Hale and J R Wigfall
William Pollard died at Clarkegrove Nursing Home, Sheffield on 31 January 1930. He was survived by his widow, Mary.
