MANCHESTER BATHS. COUNCILLORS' INSPECTION - Members of the Baths and Washhouses Committee of the Manchester City Council, accompanied by several other members and officials of the Corporation, yesterday paid visits of inspection to certain premises and sites which are controlled by the committee. ….. Next they went to Bradford, where large and handsome-looking building has been erected at approximately £40.000. The latter will in all probability he opened to the public about the middle of August, and there is little doubt that it will adequately meet the requirements of Bradford for some time to come. Besides large male and female swimming baths, there will be sixty-five wash-baths. and a splendidly equipped and spacious public washhouse with forty stalls. A marked advance has been made in the development of the last-named feature Manchester baths since the first was established some few years ago, and it is not surprising to learn that they are eagerly taken advantage of by the residents every district in which they have been placed. But at Bradford also special consideration has been given to the requirements of the large numbers of school children who will be taken each week from the elementary schools. A special dressing room has been constructed and will practically double the accommodation and allow the scholars from different schools to be under the eyes their respective teachers on the premises—an advantage, is said, which will be greatly appreciated.

NEW BATHS AT BRADFORD - Only the finishing touches remain to be added to the new public baths and washhouse which have been erected Bradford, Manchester. The buildings face the public recreation ground in Victoria Street and are regarded as one of the most up-to-date public bathing establishments in the country. The estimated cost is £39,715. There are three swimming baths—a first and second class for males and a separate one for females. The first-class bath is 75 feet by 28 feet wide, the second-class 75 feet by 30 feet and the women's bath 66 feet by 25 feet. The depth in each case runs  from 3 feet to 6 feet.  One thing not to be found at any other of the Manchester baths is provision of a dressing-room for schoolboys, near one end of the second-class bath. Accommodation is provided for 100 boys to undress, with lookers in which, to place their clothes. [Manchester Guardian 2 August 1909 page 3]
