Much interest has been aroused in Cheltenham, where a good deal has been heard during the past two years or so of music-hall ventures, by the appearance over the doorway of the Victoria Rooms, in High Street, of a board bearing the announcement: ' Site of the new Palace. Will open August Bank Holiday, 1908. Managing director, E. B. Shenton; business director, J. Walters; architect, A. Winstanley, Manchester.' Interviewed for the Echo, Mr. Edward B. Shenton said that, briefly, his scheme was an entire re-building of the Victoria Rooms, as to bring them up the standard of a well-appointed music hall, to be called the " Cheltenham Palace."
