The mediaeval church was almost entirely rebuilt by Poulton and Woodman in 1858-1859. In 1891-1892 E H Lingen Barker removed the galleries, enlarged the chancel and south aisle and added the south chancel aisle, subsequently set up as a War Memorial Chapel. [Pevsner Gloucester 1. Page ]

PARISH CHURCH, MORETON-IN-THE-MARSH - The Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol has just re-opened this parish church after considerable improvement and enlargement, from the plans of Mr. E. H. Lingen Barker, of Hereford. Three galleries have been pulled down, the chancel has been extended 10 feet eastwards, the south aisle 7 feet southwards, and a chancel aisle added on the south side.
