NEW CHURCH AT CWMAMMAN CARMARTHENSHIRE - Through the indefatigable exertions of the vicar, the Rev D Griffiths, another church has been commenced at Caegurwen, which is likely to become an important district at no distant date, and on the 12th inst. the foundation-stone of Llanvair Mission Church was laid by the Right Hon. Lady Dynevor after a short service. … The church is planned to hold 200 persons, and there will be a commodious vestry and south porch attached, The Incorporated Church Building Society have approved the plans, which will be executed at the rate of £2 16s per head, fitted up, and including all labour and materials. Mr. C. Edwards, of Leominster, has taken the contract at £560, and the architect is Mr. E. H. Lingen Barker, London, Hereford, and Swansea. [Western Mail 14 August 1885 page 2]

NEW CHURCH FOR CAEGURWEN. A new mission church at Caegurwen, in the parish of Cwmamman, was opened on Wednesday.  …. The church is named Llanfair, after the Hon. Mary Rice, an aunt of Lord Dynevor, who has been one of the largest donors. The building is a very substantial and well-proportioned structure with a commodious vestry, heated with one of Porritt's underground stoves, and as it accommodates 200 persons, and has cost only £638 13s. 6d., or £3 4s. per sitting, it stands out as the cheapest church of the kind in South Wales, yet erected under the auspices of the Incorporated Church Building Society. The architect, Mr. E. H. Lingen Barker, of Hereford and Swansea, has fully sustained his credit as one of the most economical of church architects, and the builder, Mr. Edwards, of Leominster, has also given complete satisfaction.
