                    St Peter’s Church was dedicated on St Peter’s Day, 29th June 1865. It was built at the expense of the Duke of Buccleuch on land donated by John Todd at a cost of £2,044 and provided 2-300 sittings. It is a small church, comprising nave, chancel, north porch with a small square bell tower and spire and It stands on a steeply sloping site high above the village of Askam-in-Furness with extensive views overlooking the Duddon Estuary and the Irish Sea.
