OPENING OF NEW CO-OPERATIVE STORE - The Directors of Bacup Co-operative Store Limited have just completed the erection of branch store. The new building is three storeys in height and consists of two shops - a grocer’s and butcher's, with spacious cellaring underneath. The second storey will be used as a warehouse and the upper floor for reading and conversation rooms. Immediately adjoining are two cottages and the total cost of' the whole is about £2,800. The buildings have been erected from the plans of Messrs Russell and Whitaker, architects of Rochdale and Bacup. The following are the contractors for the various works: Masons, Messrs Ellis and O’Brien; joiner Mr S Fielding; slaster Mr John Rushton; plasterer Mr Thomad Fielden; plumbing and glazing Mr Robert Clegg.
