A rare example of the Italianate style, which was used only occasionally for complete breweries. A similar style was used by the London architect W. Barns‑Kinsley at the Swan Brewery, Leatherhead . More often brewery chimneys were built in the Italianate style, the Italian campanile model being fashionable for industrial chimneys generally in the 1860s.
