Former Nonconformist School, East Street, Llangollen
The former Nonconformist School was built circa 1874 and consists of an Infant School and main school building with school yard between, designed by Richard Owens.
LLANGOLLEN - Opening of Board Schools.—The schools erected by the School Board of Llangollen have been opened by Mr. G. Osborne Morgan, M.P. for Denbighshire. The schools are on a slight eminence between Parade East-street and Greenfield Terrace, and form a prominent object in the view of the town from the railway station. The ground plan is in the form of the letter H, and the buildings consist of boys, girls, and infants' schools, each detached. There is also an apartment where the meetings of the School Board will be held. The style of the buildings is simple Pointed Gothic, and the materials used are red Penygarth bricks, with white bricks interleaved with red from the jambs and coigns. Each division has separate lavatories. The roofs are of Festiniog blue and Carnarvonshire red slates. The total cost of the site and buildings is £1,489. The buildings are intended to accommodate 300 scholars. The builders are Messrs. Ellis and Jones, Towyn. The architect is Mr. Richard Owen, Breck Road, Liverpool.
