WARRINGTON - A new hospital was opened at Warrington, on Wednesday, by the Home Secretary. The building is of modern Gothic design, constructed of red brick, with Cefn stone dressings. Ornamentation has for the most part been sacrificed to utility, but the structure is not inelegant, and has an ornamental clock tower. The wards are constructed to accommodate 27 beds, but upon necessity this number can be extended to about 40. The architects are Messrs John Pierpoint and Son, of Warrington, and the entire cost will be about £8,000. [Building News 26 January 1877 Page 101]
