MANCHESTER SCHIILER FESTIVAL – The representation of Wallenstein’s Lager necessitated the fitting of a stage in the Free Trade Hall; and this was most effectively done through the joint labours of Mr E Salomons, architect; Mr John Knowles, of the Theatre Royal; and Mr J A Hammersley, Head Master of our School of Art. Mr Halle’s band was placed on the floor in front of the stage; the speakers and the vocalists taking their place in front of the “drop.”
