                    The schools will be in the early English style, from designs by Mr E Welby Pugin. The principal room will be 100 feet long by 18 feet wide. Messrs Farrell and Ledger, of Ordsal Hill, are the builders. The land contains sufficient space for the erection of a church fronting Greengate, which it is proposed to erect as soon as the debt on St John’s is paid off [Manchester Guardian 14 June 1862 page 5] Tender £1713.
