THE NEW BRIDGE, PROGRESS OF THE WORK – Messrs Henry Fairclough and Company, the Warrington contractors are making excellent progress with the bridge which Sir William Lever is building across the Upper Dam, Lymm. The bridge, which is of ferro-concrete, will carry the new road being made across the Dam from the point where the new roadway branches off towards Cherry Lane. There will be a span of 118 feet from one bank to the other. Men are at work getting out the foundations, which go down through the marl to the solid rock. Messrs William and Segar Owen of Warrington have designed the bridge for the Lymm Estate Development Company, and the work is to be completed by August next. THE NEW BRIDGE – Rapid progress has been made during the past few weeks in the construction of the new bridge and road, which are being made by the Lymm Estate Development Company on behalf of Sir W. H. Lever. The road is now opened out where it joins Crouchley Lane near the Penny Hill and is a great improvement upon the old narrow and dangerous outlet on the main Warrington and Altrincham Road. The road leading to the new bridge opens out some charming views over the Dam and Lymm Church. The bridge, when completed will be a graceful span pf one arch, The designs are by Mr. Segar Owen, architect of Warrington, and the work is being carried out by Mr H. Fairclough, also of Warrington, who is on duty with the Warrington Army Services Corps. [Warrington Guardian - Saturday 26 September 1914 page 6]
