Following a disastrous earthquake in Santa Rosa in 1906, Dunkerley was commissioned by Theodore Overton, the brother of the mayor, to design this large building which served as a hotel and shops. It was opened in 1907. Overton also asked him to design a 700-seat theatre, but for reasons unknown this project didn’t go ahead. Information: Santa Rosa History website.
