Madame Altman opened her first shop before the commencement of the First World War and by 1917 had shops at 8 and 17 Clifton Street, Blackpool.  In 1926 she was proposing to alter and extend premises at 28 Clifton Street. Whether this scheme was progressed is unknown. The Blackpool Directory lists her at 54, Clifton Street in 1934,
