Pleasure Beach, Blackpool. Pleasure Beach Express Station

The Pleasure Beach Express is a 21 inch (533 mm) narrow-gauge railway, built in 1933. The main station was built in 1933 but was destroyed by fire on 17 July 1934. Redesigned by Joseph Emberton and rebuilt in 1935, it was replaced in 1970 by the present Victorian-style building

The station for the "Pleasure Beach Express" is almost rebuilt. It has a triangular tower of illuminated glass panels and a succession of deep circular fins under. all flood-lighted. The station walls are much lower than before. and it is expected that the new design will give a better scale to the miniature than the old. [Manchester Guardian 16 January 1935 page 7]
