PROPOSED GYMNASIUM AND SOCIAL CLUB FOR MOSS SIDE - A movement is on foot for the establishment of a gymnasium and social and athletic club for Moss Side, Whalley Range and the Alexandra Park district. It is proposed to erect a clubhouse in Greame Street near the gates of Alexandra Park. Land has been provisionally acquired by an association of which Professor D J Loech is the president and plans have been prepared by Mr W Cecil Hardisty, architect. A leading feature of the plan is a gymnasium, to be completely equipped, covering an area of 76 feet by 32 feet. There is provision also for a large reading and smoke room, a writing room, a billiard room with a couple of tables, and a room for the sale of refreshments. So far the promoters of the scheme have met with an encouraging measure of success. It is estimated that the cost of erecting and furnishing the clubhouse will be over £2000.
