SQUIRES GATE SCHEME ON 50 ACRES - If everything progresses as it is hoped, an area of sand-dunes, in all 50 acres, will disappear, and in their place a super-Lido will appear. This scheme is planned for Squires Gate at the borough boundaries oi Blackpool and Lytham St. Annes. On behalf of a London syndicate, Mr. Halsted Best, F.R.I.B.A., has purchased land of about 50 acres from the Clifton Estate, and this will soon be developed on the most up-to-date lines. Excellent bathing facilities, a fine modern restaurant, and possibly beach chalets are features of the scheme, which will cost many thousands of pounds.Reference    Lancashire Evening Post 6 November 1933 page 6
