Public Baths, St Marie's Place, Bury
BURY BATHS - We have the pleasure to announce to our readers that at last there is a prospect the baths scheme being completed. At a meeting of the building committee various works required in the erection of the public baths were let, chiefly to our own townsmen; the only reduction from the first plans being sixteen slipper baths. The structure, as at present contemplated, will comprise two large plunge baths, two Turkish baths, and twenty-four slipper baths. The works are to be commenced forthwith and Mr. Maxwell, the architect, is hopeful that the baths will be ready for use before the ensuing autumn. [Bury Times 25 April 1863 page 2].
