“Race Hill” Dunham Road Dunham Massey

The site of almost one acre was purchased in 1868 by Ernest Bates, architect, of Cooper Street Manchester.  This would appear another instance of an architect acting as developer, as there is no evidence that he ever occupied the site. The plain house in cream brick was recorded as empty in 1871 but was occupied in 1881 by James Seddon, a solicitor.
