[ADVT] NEW SILK MILL FOR LEIGH – On Friday evening last a supper was given at the Railway Inn, Bedford, Leigh, by Mr Charles Hilton, silk manufacturer, Manchester, and Messrs Wade, contractors, Miles Plating, also of Manchester, to commemorate the rearing of a silk mill near Bedford Leigh Station. Mr Hilton, having decided upon the erection of a silk mill, which is to consist of winding, warping, weaving etc, the tender of Messrs Wade, who have attained some reputation as builders, was accepted. Though the work was undertaken only three months ago, it has progressed to the entire satisfaction of Mr Hilton. The mill, which is expected to be completed by the middle of August, will be a perfect model to the town of Leigh, and reflects great credit on the contractors. The architect is Mr Hartley Hacking of Manchester. At the supper, Lieutenant Hilton (Manchester) in the chair and Mr Joseph Wade, vice chairman, the utmost unanimity prevailed, and complimentary toasts were drunk with the greatest enthusiasm. The silk mill appears to be the Charles Street Silk Mill, Leigh.
