ST. CHAD'S NEW GIRLS' SCHOOL - On Saturday evening last, a tea-party was held at the above schools in Tweedale Street to celebrate their approaching completion.    …..  The school is similar in character to the old school and built of Yorkshire stone lined with brick on the inside. It consists of a schoolroom 60 feet by 28 feet 6 inches, a hat and cloak room 13 feet by 12 feet, with cellar under and convenient outdoor offices.  The roof of the schoolroom is an open one, the principal timbers and woodwork are stained and varnished. It is well-lighted by windows on three of the sides and ample ventilation is provided by means of a patent syphon ventilator.  The rooms are heated by hot water pipes from a boiler in the cellar, the heating apparatus and gas fittings being supplied by Messrs. Howard & Company of Rochdale. The works were carried out by Medssrs John Chambers and Sons, builders, Rochdale, under the superintendence of the architects, Messrs Russell and Whitaker.
