CONSECRATION AT RAMSBOTTOM – On Wednesday last the right reverend the lord bishop of Manchester consecrated the new church of St Paul at Ramsbottom. St Paul’s has been erected by public subscription, at a cost of £2,500 under the 6 and 7 Vict c 37 (commonly known as Peel’s Act); and the patronage is therefore vested in the crown and the bishop of the diocese alternately. The church is in the early English style of architecture, and is capable of containing 600 persons; one third of the sittings being free. The architects are Messrs Holden, of Manchester.
