Opened on 16 May 1938. With a total of 1901 seats (1208 stalls and 693 balcony) the Regal operated until January 1978 for conversion into a three screen complex. It had been renamed ABC around 1962. The new cinemas opened in March 1878 with Screen 1 (the former balcony) seating 538 (the former balcony) and two rear stalls cinemas seating 281 & 199. The ABC was later renamed Cannon but closed in October 1992.
