Tuberculosis Dispensary Oxford Road – Denmark Road

The building has been designed by the City Architect, after consultation with the Medical Officer of Health, and suggests the dispensary will be a worthy addition to the Oxford Road buildings. The elevation to Oxford Road and Denmark Road will be of two storeys; behind. the building will be one-storeyed, in order that the consulting rooms may be top-lit. A little quadrangle in the middle will be planted with grass and will afford patients in summer weather pleasant alternative to the waiting room. The front of the building will be of brick with white pointing and with facings of Portland stone; the roof will be of Vronlog slate from the Nantlle Valley in North Wales. This slate, which is also being used on the Abergele Sanatorium, is predominantly green in colour, but a shower brings out of it a variety and brilliance of colour which make it a very opal of slates.
