A new workhouse chapel was opened at Holywell on Tuesday. It is built in the Gothic style, from plans prepared by Messrs. Douglas and Fordham, Chester, and will seat 300 persons. The building is of local stone, with Runcorn dressings, the windows being glazed with cathedral-tinted glass. It has a dwarf spire, 40 feet high, covered with oak shingles. Tho interior, to the height of a dado, is lined with brick. The contractor was Mr. T. W. Sibeon, of Holywell. [Building News 20 February 1885 page 309]
