Born in 1872, Waltert Wade was the second son of Richard Wade, tea dealer and grocer of Blackpool and his wife Elizabeth. He was articled to his brother, Herbert Wade of Blackpool 1892-95, becoming assistant to J B Thornely 1895-1898. About 1898 the brothers entered into a partnership which continued until about 1907. On the dissolution of the partnership Herbert Wade continued to practice from offices in Blackpool and Walter from offices in St Anne’s-on-the Sea. Commissions were mostly from the Fylde area. He was elected LRIBA on 24 June 1912,  proposed by H Price, R W Orme, and J Swarbrick [RIBA Nomination Papers L v26 no.2129].
