William Chasen Ralph

Willian Chasen Ralph was born in Marylebone London in 1848, the son of William Ralph, tailor, and his wife Harriet. He was articled to Edward Graham Paley whose office he entered in 1864 and remained as assistant to Paley and Austin in Lancaster until 1875 when he moved as assistant to John Douglas of Chester. Travelled in France and Belgium. He commenced practice in Wigan in 1890 and in 1892 entered into partnership with George Heaton as Heaton and Ralph, later Heaton Ralph and Heaton. He was elected Fellow of the RIBA on 19 January 1903; proposed by F H Oldham, P Ogden, W A Royle.

Following the death of George Heaton in 1910 the partnership was dissolved and Ralph set up practice on his own account, taking his son Ernest Wyatt Ralph into partnership. Willian Chasen Ralph died on 10 July 1913.
