VILLA AT ALTRINCHAM, CHESHIRE - The accompanying design was recently erected as a suburban residence, with some immaterial alterations, at a cost of £2300, by Messrs. Bowden, Edwards and Foster, builders, Manchester, from the design and under the superintendence of Mr. Horace Jones, architect, of 16, Furnivals Inn, London. The elevation is in red brick, with Portland cement dressings. The general arrangement will be gathered from the plan. The drawing room, which is 15 feet high, has a coved ceiling, and is well adapted for music; the hall is also lofty and architecturally treated, as also is the staircase. The interior finishings, including the chimney-pieces to principal rooms, are all executed in a style corresponding with the Italian character of the exterior. The site of the house is at Woodheyes, a large park recently laid out for building purposes, near Manchester. [Civil Engineer and Architects Journal 1859 Volume 22 page 35]
