Barratts Sweet Factory, Coburg Road, Wood Green - Extensions

Founded by George Osborne Barratt (1827-1906) in the mid-19th century, moving from Hoxton to Wood Green in 1880 to expand their facilities, By the 1950s Barratts occupied a site of over 5 acres in Wood Green and no other manufacturing confectioner in the country offered such a wide variety of sweets — about 200 lines were listed as in production in 1950 some of which were made in very large quantities. In 1922 Westwood and Emberton were commissioned to design a new extension with a curved façade following the line of Coburg Road

Joseph Emberton continued to work for Barratts from 1927-1945
