REOPENING OF ST. JAMES'S CHURCH CLITHEROE - On Sunday last the above church was re-opened, after undergoing a thorough beautifying and other great improvements. … These improvements have been made in the chancel with a view to its being rendered fir for the new painted window which is being prepared for it by C E Clutterbuck Esq. of Maryland Point, and which will be ready in a few weeks. The improvements in the whole Church are so striking as to merit the admiration of all, but especially the Norman arch over the chancel, designed by Frederick Robinson, Esq.. And well executed by Mr Norcross of Clitheroe. The architects are Messrs Stephenson (sic) and Robinson of Derby. The cost of the whole work will amount to upwards of £300.
