Francis Leonard Lumb was born in 1888 at Preston, the son of Tom Gallon Lumb and his first wife Louisa (Meadowcroft). He practised in Blackpool, working in partnership with his father, Tom Gallon Lumb (1862-1953) and William B Walton FRIBA (1883-1930) from 1913 until 1917, under the style of Tom G Lumb, Son and Walton, and with William B Walton alone until 31 December 1928 under the style of Lumb and Walton.He retired in 1954 at which time the practice was continued under the same name by the remaining partners Albert Turner, Arthur William Parkinson and George Birkett. F L Lumb died on 21 August 1959 at the Royal Infirmary Private Patients Home, Manchester.
