Born in Manchester, he studied at Manchester Regional College of Art, Manchester College of Fine Arts, and with Stanhope Forbes at Newlyn.

Painter in oils and pastel; architect and theatrical designer. In 1959 he moved to Nancledra in West Cornwall to take up life as an artist.
