The son of Henry Worthington and Frances (nee Law), Henry Worthington was born at Manchester in 1854. Having briefly practised as an architect and surveyor in partnership with (unknown) Schofield in the early 1880s, he left Manchester, emigrating to the United States in 1884 (CHECK), and settled in Manhattan, New York, where he remained until his death. Henry Worthington married Emma Lewis of New York City on 28 December 1889. She was a remarkable lady, who, according to the records, was aged 33 years at the time of her marriage in 1889 and was still aged 33 at the birth of their fourth child in 1895.
