Mortimer Henry Linklater

Mortimer Henry Linklater was articled to Charles Lanyon of Belfast and was elected a student of the RIAI in 1864, but was struck off on 30 October 1866. By 1868 he had moved to Manchester and was soon in partnership with a fellow Irishman, Henry R Price. This partnership ended about 1875, the 1876 Manchester Directory includes an entry for Henry R Price (late Price and Linklater) but has no separate listing for Linklater. Between 1875 and 1878 Linklater was working alone on the restoration of the Church of St Margaret, Stanford le Hope, Essex (ICBS). He was elected an associate of the RIBA: on 19 January 1871, proposed by R. Kerr, C.F. Hayward and T. Roger Smith.
In 1877 Linklater took Holy Orders in 1877 and was variously Curate of the Church of England, St Matthew Leicester (1881); St Alban’s Snemton Nottinghamshire (1886); Clergyman of the Church of England, Harbury, Warwickshire(1891); Clergyman of the Church of England, Hastings (1901-1923)
