Born in Timperley, Roderick Arthur Fitton was the son of Thomas Arthur Fitton, architect and his wife Emma. After the First World War he entered into partnership with his father Thomas Arthur Fitton under the style T A Fitton and Son and continued the practice after his father’s death in 1929He later took Eric Hamilton Thompson, ARIBA. Into partnership.  This partnership was dissolved on 31 March 1950 when Roderick Fitton retired. Eric Hamilton Thompson continued the business on his own account under the style of T A Fitton and Son. Roderick Fitton was elected an Associate of the RIBA in 1927 and later a Fellow.
