Thomas Chilton Wilson was the eldest son of Willami Wilson and Mary and was born in 1852 at Sale, Cheshire. Willami Wilson died on 1 April 1875. It is unclear whether Thomas had been taken into partnership before his father’s death.  His partnership with F H Oldham technically lasted until 1883 but may realistically have ended several years before, In the 1881 Census he is described as an  unemployed surveyor.
