New build

Three storey and basement, brick with stone dressings built at a cost of £2,264. The building covered a site of 152 square yards, bounded by Hanging Bridge and Cannon Court with a main frontage to Cateaton Street. Unusually for central Manchester, the building had windows on three sides. In 1893 the building was leased to Charles Garnett at a sum of £430 for a period of ten years.  Garnett, who had previously occupied the ground floor and basement only at a rent of £200 per annum, operated a restaurant and dining rooms on the premises.

Now part of the Cathedral Visitor Centre, opened by HM The Queen Elizabeth in 2002 at a cost of £2.9m.
