A group of almshouses just erected at Reddish, near Manchester, under the will of the late W. W. Prescott, were inspected by the trustees on Monday week. There are six houses, each consisting of living room, scullery and pantry on ground floor, and a bedroom and closet above. The walls are of white bricks with red stock brick quoins and Run corn stone dressings, and the front is broken up by a central gable, dormer windows in roof, and pent roofs over entrances. Messrs. Froggatt and Briggs, of Heaton Norris, were the builders, and Mr. James Hunt, of Stockport, was the architect. The cost has been £1,850. [Building News 22 June 1883 page 868]
