2, 2A, 4 and 4A Old Market Place, Altrincham

Just across the road (from the Old Market Place) was a private dwelling house, set in a fair garden adjoining the business premises of Messrs. Bowden and Parkes. This was pulled down in 1878, in order to make way for the new Post Office and several imposing shops, which the late Sir William Cunliffe Brooks felt to be more suited to the growing needs of the increasing population.
