This Italianate style villa, at the south-west corner of Cross-street and Winkley Square, was designed by John Latham and built for Mr. William Ainsworth, J.P., cotton spinner and an esteemed member of the Winkley Club, who at that time had a mill in Cotton Court, Church Street. By the 1940s it was used as the County Court office before demolition in 1969.
