The site of the intended structure is in Elizabeth-street, Lancaster-road. It is to be erected from designs by Mr Latham, of this town, in the Grecian style. The portico is a Grecian-Ionica peristyle; or six columns supporting a pediment. Th church is to be 106 feet in length, by 61 feet 6 inches. There will be a centre and two side aisles. There will be a spacious gallery round three sides of the building. Altogether, there will be accommodation for between 1,500 and 1600 persons. The church will be lighted by 17 windows, with circular heads; three of them, clustered, will be in a recess, at the east end. The church will be so constructed as to admit of a tower being added at the west end. When completed, it will be an ornament to that part of the town. as well as a great convenience to many in the neighbourhood. The contractors are - for the brick work, Mr. Wilkie; for the stonework, Mr. Fawcett; for the joiners' work, Messrs. Benson, Procter, and Evans; and for the flagging and slating, Mr.  Armitstead. Tho foundation stone was laid on Wednesday, upon which occasion there was a great muster of the friends of the undertaking. ….. Mr Latham produced a small bottle in which were placed copies of last week's Preston Chronicle, Pilot and Guardian, and one of each of the current coins of the realm. The bottle was then placed in a cavity cut for its reception in the Stone, and over it was placed a copper plate bearing the following inscription: SUBSCRIPTION CHURCH/ The Foundation-stone of this Church, to be called / All Saints' Church / was laid by T. German, Esq, Mayor /On the 218t day of  October, /A. D. 1846, / In the tenth year of the reign of Queen Victoria. / John Latham, architect. / T. Pritt, engraver," [Charles Hardwick:  History of Preston and its Environs 1857 page 478]
