All Saints Church stands in the centre of Grosvenor Square, Chorlton-upon-Medlock.  The foundation stone was laid March 25th, 1819, and the church consecrated April 12th in the year following.  The tower contains a clock, having a dial plate on each of its sides, which is the property of the Corporation; it is surmounted by a dome, ball and cross.  The interior is very capacious; a gallery runs all round the church; the portion at the east end, over the altar, contains a very fine organ by Renn. Over the altar is a beautiful circular coloured window, representing our Saviour's agony in the garden.  The pulpit, reading desk, &c. is of polished mahogany, and is the handsomest of its kind in Manchester.  On the front of the gallery, all round the church, are figures of the Agnus Dei and cross, in panels; and from the number of places about the church in which this symbol has been placed, it has been called "All Lambs' Church".

A destructive fire broke out on February 6th, 1850, just before the commencement of the week-day evening service; the whole of the roof was burnt, and a great portion of the interior of the church injured.  It is now undergoing repair, and will shortly be re-opened.  The incumbent is the Rev. C. Burton, LL.D., the founder of the church." [Visitors Guide to Manchester 1850]
